February Mass Street Music News – 2014

NAMM

Jim returned from the recent NAMM show in California with great stories of meeting up with good buddies and music retailers from all over the nation. While there he got a sneak peek at some great new gear and you’ll see some of it headed our way over the next few months. He also brought back a few very fine Collings guitars from that trip, including this cannon, a Collings D2HA VN.

NEW GEAR HEADED OUR WAY

Stone Deaf FX PDF1 Distortion Filter Pedal
Stone Deaf FX – We’re excited to announce we’ll be getting our first shipment of Stone Deaf pedals soon – these are made by a father and son team in England. The PDF-1 Parametric Distortion Filter pedal is used by the likes of Queens of the Stone Age, Foo Fighters, Biffy Clyro and more. Few places in the US carry them, so we’re thrilled to be chosen as a dealer – and to be a place in the midwest you can stop by and try them out.
Grosh Guitars – Eric Mardis cooked up a sweet Grosh which should be here very soon – a Gilmour inspired Grosh NOS loaded with Fat 60s pickups with an overwind on the bridge pickup.
Fender 60th Anniversary Guitars – we have three 60th Anniversary Strats headed our way – a Commemorative Strat, a Fender 60th Anniversary Made in Mexico Strat and a very cool and affordable Squier Classic Vibe 60th Anniversary Strat in Aztec Gold finish. Seriously sharp.

Martin Guitars – New Martin guitars are coming soon and keep your eye out for some special staff-chosen options on some of these, as well as some beautiful Authentics headed our way. Straps – New Leather Aces reversible straps are in (made right here in Kansas), new Henry Heller straps, and new Soldier straps too.

FOLK ALLIANCE INTERNATIONAL
Folk Alliance Conference and Camp image

If you’re anywhere near Kansas City Feb. 19-23, stop by the amazing Folk Alliance Conference and Band Camp. This will be held at Crown Center and at the Sheraton nearby. If you’ve ever wanted to take a songwriting class with Jim Lauderdale, learn guitar from Bill Kirchen or banjo from Pete Wernick, you can do it at this Camp. At the Conference there will be an array of musicians from all over the country performing most nights – single tickets for the public Folk Alliance Music Showcase are now available too. We’ll be at the Exhibition Hall from 3-6 on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, so stop by and say hello. Learn more about the Folk Alliance here and some of the their great outreach programs here.

HAPPY TRAILS
Alek Nelson

Lastly, we’re saying goodbye to our buddy and the best shipper ever, Alek Nelson who is moving soon. We made sure he showed our new shipper, Susan Willits, the ropes before he left. Susan is actually one of the first Mass Street employees ever and also our bookkeeper so it’s a perfect fit. Susan runs a tight ship and is already pro at packing (and unpacking) guitars.
