MSM News

September means Winfield at Mass Street Music! We’re heading to Winfield, the Walnut Valley Festival, on Wednesday, September 17. If you’re heading there, be sure to stop by and visit us under the Grandstand – Josh, Mike H. and Jim will all be there, along with our Taylor Guitars buddy, Rich, and some friends from D’addario. We’ll have a multitude of great guitars like Collings, Martin and Taylor, plus Calton Cases and so much more. You’ll also have a chance to win passes to the Harvest Festival in Arkansas!

Calton Cases at Mass Street Music

Speaking of Calton Cases, they’re back and we have them in stock. If you need real protection for your acoustic guitar, mando, banjo or electric guitar, you need a Calton. These are better than ever and we’re proud to have them at the store. We have an amazing selection of Collings acoustic guitars on hand right now too – from dreads to 00 and 000 guitars and everything in between.

How would you like to win a free Eastman acoustic guitar? We have a great contest on right now – just stop by, play one of Eastman’s Traditional Series guitars, enter with a card we give you and you’re in. The contest will be on through Jan. 31, 2015.

Upcoming events – yes, we have a few! This weekend, two-time International Bluegrass Music Association ‘Guitarist of the Year’, Jim Hurst, is playing a concert at the store on Sat., Sept. 13. Tickets are $20. If you’d like hands-on instruction from him, don’t miss the Winfield Warm-up, also this weekend. Earlier that Saturday afternoon, Jim will be doing a Vintage Guitars Clinic at 4:00 pm, which is free. The great Andy McKee will be doing an in-store at Mass Street Music on Wed., Sept. 17 4:30 pm, thanks in part to Ernie Ball Strings. Andy will play a bit and we’ll have some EB goodies to hand out. He’s performing later that night at the Bottleneck in concert – enter to win tickets here.

Just around the corner on Saturday, October 11, we have not one but two special events: Greg Blake is leading a special Intermediate Bluegrass Guitar Clinic (Oct. 11, 10 am, $20), followed by a 2:30pm Collings Guitars Special Clinic with Bruce VanWart – Master Luthier, Collings’ first employee, and the one who makes wood selections, helps voice the tops and so much more. We’re very excited to have Bruce visit us for a special Collings day. Other upcoming events include a Tango Guitar Clinic (Oct. 18, Free), and coming soon, a ‘Rock & Roll’ Hearing Clinic for musicians – free earplugs, hearing tests and more. We hope you’ll be able to stop by for one or more of these great events. As always, thank you for supporting independent music stores!
