This PreSonus Sceptre S6 is an affordable, single-unit coaxial near-field active studio monitor with built-in DSP processing. What all that means is that this is a single monitor capable of delivering the low- and high-end frequencies from the same source, rather than from a monitor and an additional sub. The benefit is that even subtle and slight changes in the listener's position can affect how the sound is relayed and experienced by the listener - so by originating from the same source, you mitigate the potential for change in quality or effect.

This is a single 6 1/2" speaker with 90 watts of class-D amplifier power and a 1" compression tweeter. It's encased in a durable medium-density fiberboard housing and with a black-plastic foil finish. The connections and controls are all on the back panel, including the Level, XLR or TRS inputs, in addition to a variable control that adjusts the gain. The equalizer is controlled via step-through presets with plenty of options to choose from to find just the right tone.
