The long-awaited Dr. Z Antidote amp head is here! And we gotta say, folks, it is killer. A perfect example of the good Doctor's sonic alchemy at work, the Antidote merges tried-and-true classic designs—in this case, an early JTM45 circuit—with some pretty innovative tone-shaping features. Based around a pair of KT66 power tubes, paired with an ultra-linear output transformer, the Antidote pumps 45 watts of pure tube power through your 4, 8, or 16 ohm cab. Get ready for thick, rich gain, cleans with a bell-like top end, lows that hit you in the chest, and volume that will have your cool neighbors standing on their porches with lighters in the air.
The Antidote can move some air for sure. But it's not just loud and toneful. It's also quite versatile. Beyond the touch-sensitive 4-band EQ, you also get a vintage/modern switch, high and normal blended volume knobs (vs. a traditional 4-input “bridged” setup), and a footswitchable EQ bypass for an impressive array of gain and tone variations. Using the vintage/modern switch, you can toggle among everything from '60s sparkly cleans and mild overdrive, to arena-style '70s crunch and smooth-as-silk leads. Not to mention, the footswitchable EQ bypass which increases gain and volume for a solo boost—or it can even function as a channel switcher depending on how you have things set. Built using the best components and wired by hand, this Dr. Z Antidote is yet another soon-to-be classic amp from our good friend, the Doctor.
