Three straight (non-scalloped) Adirondack tone bars make for the wonderful quick and focused response associated with pre-war slope Ds. The short scale ever-so-slightly eases string tension and, along with the shorter reach, makes this CJ a blast to play - and very different from the traditional long scale scalloped dreadnaughts. This has a breathtaking sunburst finish that is done with Collings perfection. The tiger stripe pickguard, simple single-stripe ivoroid binding on the body, neck and peg head, and dark stained Mahogany back and sides give this guitar a timeless, absolutely perfect appearance. The Adirondack Spruce top is visually beautiful and adds to the crisp, clear top end of this guitar." - Jim B. This Custom CJ is a jaw dropper in sound and appearance - Bill crafted this short scale (24 7/8") guitar based on our owner Jim Baggett's favorite vintage Gibson J-35. The nutwidth is 1 3/4" with 2 1/4" saddle spacing. The straight (non-scalloped) Adirondack bracing, along with no tongue brace adds to the already amazing sound and resonance.
