SPF is a boutique pedal manufacturer operating out of the woods in Auburn, Washington. It grew out of the need for quality guitar pedals (the result of one techno geek's search for social acceptance). Mass Street Music is proud to offer SPF products. For a good time, check out the SPF site.

Smart People Factory now allows you to hear (in the future) the sounds you are creating in the present! That's not all! They also fused together the future with the past, by providing old-timey analog style filtering. Travel backwards in time with the warmth control to dial in BBD style mojo, or the natural sound of old tape delays. You can also set it for infinite repeats, get crashing pitch shifts with an expression pedal, or spice up your echoes with the FX loop.

This is booster bliss as it should be. Ultra high input impedance brings sparkle and life back into vintage pickups. The tone control provides a full range of bass and treble boost options, and switches off for uncolored, transparent boost. The boost control ranges from unity gain to a whopping 30 dB of tube melting boost.

These guys dropped by the store to introduce themselves and their pedals to us. Nice guys, thanks for coming by! SPF stands for "Smart People Factory" and their web site is a blast to visit. These guys endeared themselves to us with their no-nonsense approach and sense of humor and after spending sometime with their pedals, we like them even more! This red beast needs a warning label! Mucho gain on tap, but very musical and very responsive. Most boutique distortion/overdrive pedals tend to be pretty tame, but what about those of us who like to get nasty? This one's for you! We spent some time plugging this pedal into a few amps to get a wide view of what it is capable of. We tried mostly clean Fender/Vox type amps to see if this pedal can cop the "Marshall stack in-a-box" vibe without plugging it into an actual Marshall. It performed very nicely and very differently through each amp (we feel this is the mark of a truly well designed pedal). We especially liked this guy into the new Fender '57 Tweed Twin. You'd never believe it, but this pedal and that amp make for one mean sounding Brian May lead tone when using humbuckers. Lots of harmonic complexity, with just a hint of asymmetric clipping to provide some bite and edge to your crunch tone. Into a few Dr. Z amps, this guy cops much more of the high gain British stack thing, but with some unique crunch that sets it apart from anything we've heard. If you are looking for a high quality, super high gain tone that sets you apart from the pack, this is worth checking out.
