Carr Hammerhead Head

Carr Guitar Amps - Hammerhead Head

28 watt EL-34 Hand Wired Class A Head. The Hammerhead MK II offers rich output tube overdrive with a unique personality and super simple signal path. Rock, hot blues, and pop guitarists will find wide range of tones from semi-clean to full on overdrive with just the right amount of vintage funk. The MK II offers a new single knob tone circuit with On/Off switch. Fully redesigned power supply vastly improving openness and 'Feel' while increasing sustain and clarity.Like the amps that inspired this guy, it works great with single coils and humbuckers and has a great throaty, harmonically rich midrange that allows for nice controllable feedback at low and high gain settings. Beano era Clapton, Led Zep I and II Supro tones are very easy to get on this amp, but its ability to give British style harmonics but with a clean tone is what makes this a winner.

Carr Vincent 1x12 Combo

Carr Guitar Amps - Vincent 1x12 Combo

The 6L6 Vincent is biased deeply into Class A, yielding a pushed, ready-to-jump feel. The vibe from The Vincent is explosive and forward-tilting. It distorts very well in a large curd Tweedish way when cranked, and the clean tone is gorgeous and dimensional. The 1x12 is wonderfully compact.

Features include reverb, two power levels (33 or 7 watts), a variable drive control (internal clean boost which gives the amp more push and OD when the amp is turned up - you can hear more of the winding on strings and dynamic, super twang), and a footswitchable fixed boost (partial tone stack bypass) which greatly increases midrange punch and yields a wonderful grind. The resulting volume increase is just right for a solo, or if the amp is really overdriving, it thickens and adds sustain. Lighted footswitch included. Controls include volume, treble, mid (with panel on/off for boost), bass, reverb, drive, and power level.

Carr Hammerhead 1x12 Combo

Carr Guitar Amps - Hammerhead 1x12 Combo

What does two Class A EL34 power tubes, an ultra short signal path, a custom made 12" speaker and a beautifully built pine cabinet add up to? A huge British voiced tube tone that is available at small, medium AND high volume levels. We love this amp's Valco meets Marshall BluesBreaker tone that is easy to carry and gives up the goods at a level that won't get you fired from the gig. Like the amps that inspired this little guy, it works great with single coils and humbuckers and has a great throaty, harmonically rich midrange that allows for nice controlable feedback at low and high gain settings. Beano era Clapton, Led Zep I and II Supro tones are very easy to get on this amp, but its ability to give British style harmonics but with a clean tone is what makes this a winner. Takes pedals very well and is built like a Brickhouse. If you think small, portable tube amps usually sound wimpy, this amp will change your mind forever. Doctor's warning: This amp is high in cholesterol!!

Carr Mercury 1x12 Combo

Carr Guitar Amps - Mercury 1x12 Combo

Many builders have attempted to create a true low wattage amp that gives up big amp tone in an easy to use, easy to carry package, while still giving the ability to use in larger venues if needed AND having it still sound and feel good in all settings. Thanks to Steve Carr and the input from some of his key dealers, that amp has been fully realized. Using some elegant tube trickery and a keen ear for what real players require, Steve has provided a flexible yet VERY simple amp that just simply sounds great no matter how it is set up. We really like the use of a single JJ Tesla EL34 power tube as the engine behind this amp. Its unique ability to cover both British (Vox and Marshall) and American tonalities whether clean or overdriven is what makes this amp so appealing. Add this power section to a neat attenuator design, able to go down to a sleeping baby friendly 1/10th of a watt(!) and a interactive and bypassable (for more gain) tone stack and you have an amp that begs to be used in situations you'd never thought a tube amp could hang in. Late night jamming or recording, you bet! Cranked Marshall tones in an apartment, no problem! BUT, should you need to have a compact, soulful clean amp sitting right on the edge of the amp's sweet spot for clubs, the BIG 8 watts this amp is capable of, is just about perfect. Beautifully built and very cool looking, Carr has hit a home run on this amp. USED

Designed to be the perfect club amp, the Rambler exudes exquisite Blackface and Tweed tone in an appropriate output and size. Voiced to satisfy the player steeped in the classic designs of Leo from the 50's and 60's but with added clarity, flexibility and build quality. Steve Carr's unique hand wired Class A circuit is not only the most rugged we've ever seen, it utilizes some serious audiophile grade components that unlike the Fender designs of the past, will not need a cap job, EVER! The pentode/triode switch allows the amp to be used in 28 watt or 14 watt mode and the custom designed speaker gives up classic Jensen and Celestion tones. Great reverb and great tremolo as well.

Carr Slant 6V 1x12 Combo

Carr Guitar Amps - Slant 6V 1x12 Combo

Many amp makers are attempting to add a high-gain channel to their single-channel amps for dual-channel operation. Unfortunately, they usually sound just like that, an add-on piece. Kind of like add-on air conditioning on a car that simply makes enough racket that you "think" you are being cooled down...Not so with the the Slant 6V...both channels are well thought out and most importantly, the tone of each channel has its own unique flavor, the dirty channel is not just a higher gain version of the clean channel. So what is the tone like? The clean channel will give up some of the most seductive and sparkling Blackface tone on the market today, with added clarity and chime. The dirty channel is so unique, it cannot be described via comparison. Simply put, the lead channel is one of the most musical and buttery lead tones available and it is VERY touch sensitive. We particularly like its gain structure, plenty on tap for super sustained/compressed tones, but the range is very controllable. There are two switchable gain ranges and in the lower setting, the dirty channel can also be used as a different clean voice if so desired. The reverb is lush, the power amp is switchable from full to half power setting (and get this, it actually WORKS!) The 1 x 12" configuration makes this amp an incredibly portable combo for a variety of applications. This one is loaded with the footswitchable Boost on the Overdrive channel. Gorgeous wine tolex and the most perfectly built solid pine cabinet we've ever seen.

Carr Rambler 2x10 Combo

Carr Guitar Amps - Rambler 2x10 Combo

We are proud to announce the addition of the Carr Amplifier line to our product listing. We spent quite a bit of time and a lot of research (basically playing a bunch of amps, you know...fun research!) looking for a line that captured the essence of classic American amplifiers, yet had its own tonal and aesthetic twist. We feel the creations of Steve Carr fit that bill better than any on the market today. The Rambler is a perfect example of the Carr sound. It embodies the essence of the Tweed and Blackface sound, while adding a depth and 3 dimensionality and a more usable Class A power section to achieve its tonal mojo at volumes that real players require in small to medium sized venues and studios. The dual 6L6 power section gives up classic Deluxe, Vibrolux, Pro and Super tones in the Pentode mode with an extra "sumpin', sumpin" that even the best vintage examples have a hard time getting. The Mid control allows the user to dial everything from the squishy mids of a tweed to the quick midrange bark of a Blackface. The Tremolo circuit is downright ridiculous, it's so good, and if you think the classic depth of a Blackface reverb is no longer available on a new amp, think again! The unique floating baffle board gives this amp a thick and rich low end and the build quality of the chassis and solid pine cabinet add to its allure. Everything in the amp is well thought out and done for reliability and most importantly, tone. We especially dig the hospital grade power cord and the audiophile grade speaker cable and capacitors. The internal wiring is a work of art and ensures a lifetime of reliable tone and easy serviceability. Welcome, Carr, it's going to be fun!!
