This new Squier Affinity PJ Bass is another Affinity that has undergone some majorly cool upgrades - enough to make us take a fresh look at Fender's 'little brother' super affordable line. This is loaded with a traditional split single-coil Precision Bass pickup in the middle plus a Jazz Bass bridge pickup. You've got separate controls for each. The neck is more playable, with a smoother feel, plus little details have been upgraded like the pickguard, which is now 3-ply.
This has an Alder body, Maple neck with a Rosewood fretboard (1.50" nutwidth and 9.5" radius) and sounds great. Whether you're looking for a starter or a backup or just something different, this Affinity PJ Bass delivers great, classic build with quality upgrades - all at a price that's a total steal. This Squier James Johnston Jazz Bass delivers a lower cost yet well built signature bass designed after the Biffy Clyro bassist's own Fender Jazz Bass. The basswood body has a classic Lake Placid Blue gloss finish, and is loaded with two Custom Jazz Bass single coil pickups with Alnico V magnets. Versatile with power and a nice range of clear to crunch. It's regular 34" scale with a nice fast neck - 1.5" nutwidth, C shape neck with a 9.5" radius and Rosewood fretboard. This also has the great HiMass bridge with brass saddles which helps for reliable tuning and increased sustain. You've also got the Biffy Clyro logo on the front of the matching headstock and Johston's signature on the back of it. Very similar build to the great Classic Vibe series with the signature additions. Case not included, but you can add on a Mass St Music bass gig bag here for just a bit more.
