This Gibson Electric Guitars - SG Standard from '67 hearkens back to a time when the sinister sounds of metal music were just beginning to ruminate. Its either the "Batwing" black pickgaurd, or the dark aged heritage cherry finish that informs the listener things are about to get heavy. The former tremolo system was most likely the famed Maestro lyre, but was converted to a stop tailpiece with a tune-o-matic bridge. The nylon saddles were common for the time, as well as the absence of pickup frames or rings. The frets have minimal wear, but are pretty low due to a probable recent fret dress and care. Minimal checking in certain areas serve as a reminder that this is certainly a vintage instrument. Here in Very Good condition, this SG Standard is resonant and full while featuring the special heft and play-ability that heavy rockers have always sought out.
