This 1962 National Val-Pro is early '60s vintage vibe at its finest. It's one of the earliest 'Map Series' models, appropriately nicknamed by players for its unique map-shaped body. It's made of what National called Res-O-Glas, a "space age" fiberglass-type material, which not only looks cool, but also lends to its not-of-this-world tones. The single neck pickup is a humbucker-sized single-coil that offers a throaty, midrange-y sound with a reputation for being well-suited to slide. It also has a piezo-type pickup built into the base of the bridge, which helps add to the versatility.

This Val-Pro does show its fair share of playwear. It has nicks, dings, chips, and at some point in its storied lifetime, it was signed by the one and only Link Wray. The signature has since faded to almost obscurity, but you can still make it out (see photo). The tuners are non-original Gibson brand, and the holes from the originals are unfilled. Also, it spent a little time in the Mass Street Music shop having a hairline crack right below the headstock sealed and a new nut. Rest assured, the crack is solid as a rock now, and it plays better than ever. This 1962 National Val-Pro offers a ton of classic vibe and it's ready to hit the stage, studio, or garage today. In Very Good Minus condition with non-original hardshell case. Serial #t80721 USED
