This Yamaha JR2 3/4 Size is a great starter acoustic for kids or a smaller guitar for traveling, camping, or just to have around the house. It can be tough to find a small-bodied instrument at a decent price that actually plays well. But this is the real deal, not a toy. It stays in tune and will hold up for the long haul, and with a sunburst finish it looks great too.

This Yamaha JR2 3/4 Size Guitar is a great starter acoustic for kids, folks with smaller hands, travelers or just to have around the house. We hand picked the JR2 after looking at a lot of 3/4 sized acoustics and we are really impressed with it's sound, looks and value. It's truly a great player. It can be tough to find a small-bodied instrument at a decent price that actually plays well and has a good sound, but this is the real deal, not a toy. It stays spot-on in tune, has a nice volume and will hold up for the long haul - it looks great too with a gloss, natural finish. The gig bag is pretty deluxe as well, more akin to a hybrid case, with substantial padding and backpack straps.

Unbelievable to find a solid Sitka Spruce top acoustic at this price, but this Yamaha FG700S really delivers and is an amazing value. At only $199 with a Sitka top, it's definitely competitively priced -but this guitar is more than just a good price. First of all, it's a Yamaha and they have a stellar reputation for building instruments correctly and this is no exception. The fit and finish is superb, the neck angle is correct and fret work is exceptional. This makes for a really nice playing instrument that will bring no action complaints.
Tonally it's definitely above its $200 price point. No, it is not a Collings, but it is a really well balanced instrument rivaling instruments costing considerably more. The solid top will allow the guitar to grow in tone - as long as you play it.
This makes a fantastic first instrument or a step up from your pawn shop beater, but this acoustic is also the perfect compliment for a seasoned electric player wanting a nice acoustic hanging around the house for 'couch performances' and even recording acoustic parts in his/her home studio. Yes, you could certainly install a pickup and have a perfectly acceptable live performance acoustic as well. All in all, this is a great price for a no-excuses instrument. - John F.
A surprisingly great deal for the low price. A Rosewood fingerboard and diecast tuners. This Yamaha FG700S is just plain unbeatable when it comes to tone plus value. Case not included, but check out our own acoustic gig bag or our favorite Gator hybrid case.

We're really excited to have these great 3/4 sized (21 1/4" scale) Yamaha JR1 acoustic guitars in the store. Whether you're looking for a starter acoustic for kids, an instrument to take camping, or just a smaller guitar for around the house, this is perfect and priced right. It's tough to find a smaller guitar at a decent price that actually plays well. If you want your kid to have a real chance at playing, you need an instrument that will stay in tune and stand for the long haul. But it's hard to invest hundreds of dollars when you're not sure if it'll be put to good use. This is the real deal and not a toy, with a Spruce laminate top, Meranti (an Asian hardwood) back and sides, a Nato (Mora wood) neck, Rosewood fingerboard and bridge, and great looks - it even resembles the sought after Martin Eric Clapton 000-28EC with vintage toner. As with any new guitar, you get a free set up so you can be assured it's in top playing form from day one. This Yamaha JR1 comes with a gig bag as well.
