This 2003 Gilchrist Model 5 Mandolin, serial #03541, is simply tremendous in every respect and is in Excellent condition. The natural finish Birdseye Maple back and sides and Spruce top have aged slightly giving it a gorgeous light golden hue. The tone as well has matured and is spectacular - big, warm and nicely balanced. This has tone bar bracing, a radiused fretboard, and upgraded Waverly tuners with Ebony buttons. This does have a small repaired crack running down from the treble f hole to the bottom, but it was expertly repaired by Hugh Hansen in Nashville.

Gorgeous appointments abound here to match the tone, including ivoroid front and back bound body, bound neck and headstock and bound tortoise pickguard. There is an Ebony rest, and the headstock inlay is outstanding and accented nicely by the mother of pearl fretboard inlay. This Gilchrist Model 5 Mandolin comes with a bright yellow Scottish-made Pegasus hard case, too.
