Don Grosh Basses - J4 - Sunburst
A rare instrument, this custom Don Grosh J4 Bass with an impeccable '59 Sunburst finish marks a new era for basses - one replete with high-caliber construction and unbeatable playability. Here with an Alder body that doesn't weigh too much (8 lb., 8 oz.), a Maple neck that's as comfortable to play as they come, and a superb Rosewood fretboard with 21 Medium frets and 10" radius. The nut is a wide 1 1/2" and the scale is 34". A perfect player for all styles, it's especially great for rock, blues, funk and of course jazz - hence its name - but, really, it can do just about anything. Grosh, based in Colorado, only builds about 300 guitars per year and only a few basses - this jazz bass is as good as it gets, melding modern playability with exceptional vintage tone.
Its dual Vintage J Bass pickups from Grosh's own line sound absolutely superb, full of booming lows, punchy mids, and crisp highs, and are fully capable of producing just the right tone, especially with help of its four controls: Volume, Balance, Treble, and Bass. Featuring a tortoiseshell-style pickguard, Hipshot bridge and Hipshot Ultralight tuners, this custom Don Grosh J4 Bass is everything a bass should be - and easily one of the best we've ever played. It's beautifully set up now, but our luthiers will adjust to your specs, should you desire it. Grosh rectangular hard case included.
