This Collings OM3 A T was ordered up in celebration of our 40th Anniversary, and was spec'd out as a tribute to a piece of Mass Street Music history. After a chance meeting at a Texas guitar show back around 1990, our very own Jim Baggett and the late Bill Collings struck up a friendship and a business relationship, which resulted in Jim taking home his first Collings, an OM3. We still see that guitar from time to time here in the shop as it's owned by a local player, and we couldn't think of a better way to cap of our 40th Anniversary as a shop than to order up a Collings OM3 as a nod to those early beginnings in the Mass Street/Collings friendship.

Here with a few choice upgrades including the Traditional package, along with an Adirondack top, two options that were not available back in 1990, this Orchestra Model is warm, responsive and dynamic, with the sort of clarity to the note that leaves you wanting to play more. We couldn't be happier with how this guitar turned out, and it's a wonderful tribute to that very first Collings to come through the shop, more than 30 years ago.

This Collings OM3 A T includes the original Collings hardshell case and a Mass Street setup from our team of luthiers.

The Collings Traditional Series is marked by a return to just that, traditional building techniques and materials combined with the Collings exquisite attention to detail. This new series is highlighted by traditional style bracing and tone woods which are adjusted, weighed and voiced to produce particularly warm, rounded highs while maintaining a full, rich low end. The extra thin Nitrocellulose lacquer finish, applied without a polyvinyl sealer, makes for a lively, expressive top that has the feel of a vintage guitar.
