Collings Acoustic Guitars - 2005 CW A Indian Rosewood

This 2005 used Collings CW Indian Rosewod A, serial# 11024, is also known as the Collings Winfield guitar, named after Winfield, KS, home of the Walnut Valley Festival held each September. It's one of our favorite models - a dread built with options frequently requested by flatpickers - in particular, the great Clarence White. This has a stiffer Adirondack Spruce top with a slightly larger soundhole for increased volume, and pre-war scalloped Adirondack bracing. Couple that with the East Indian Rosewood back and sides and you have a unique, bluegrass-friendly monster of a dread.

This CW has a 25 1/2" scale, with a smooth modified V-shaped Mahogany neck, and a medium-sized 1 23/32" bone nut. Here in Very Good condition, it was professionally played, and shows a few nicks and dings on the top, and very minor buckle rash on the back. There is a small finish crack in the center seam under the bridge (see photo), but our luthiers examined it carefully and it's structurally sound. This guitar is a fantastic player, and at only nine years old, it has plenty of life and gigs ahead.

There are so many great features here including the Dalmation-style celluloid pickguard, grained ivoroid and wood nitrate rosette, and herringbone trim and backstrip. This Collings CW Indian Rosewood A acoustic is a special guitar that offers the volume necessary for cutting through the multitudes of basses and banjos of Winfield. Includes the original hardshell case.
