This vintage Martin 1941 D-28 would be described a high-grade player, primarily due to the repaired circular disk on the bass lower bout and as a result a refinished top. The disc covers a very shallow divit where an emblem was inlayed. The divit does not extend all the way through the top and the inside of the guitar is very clean and original other than one tiny cleat in front of the bridge and a thin maple overlay installed on the original bridge plate.

The neck has been perfectly reset and the frets have been PLEK'd and polished resulting in a very playable action with a perfect saddle height. The heal of the neck has a newer finish on it and there is a very tiny tight crack where the 28-style diamond transition to the shank of the neck. The back and sides of this guitar are from some absolutely gorgeous Brazilian rosewood, and though play worn and weather checked with original finish, remain crack free.

We feel that the term player grade is often used on guitars with less than perfect condition and issues, but we also feel that guitars labeled as such should be absolutely playable. This guitar meets that playability standard and the tone that one would expect of a guitar from this iconic pre-war era. Full free to reach out with any questions and an in-hand examination.
