Dr. Z Amps - Therapy Head
This Dr. Z Therapy Amp Head is a significant departure from classic Zs - in a lot of truly incredible ways, too. What you get is the combination of a cathode biased 6L6-based amp and a low-powered tweed Twin amp, a roundabout way of saying "totally awesome." Powered by dual 6L6 power tubes, dual 12AX7 preamp tubes, and a 5AR4 rectifier, it dishes out 35 watts of power with 4, 8, and 16 ohm output options. Additionally, it has a post-phase inverter Master Volume control specifically designed to not to lose any top-end at lower volume settings. With this, it's especially good for late night practice settings, but easily loud enough for studio time, full-band practice, and larger gigs.
With a noticeably woody bass response, the Therapy is a great crossover amp, mixing vintage tweed-like cleans with the clarity of modern technology and construction. And it has a very natural breakup befitting of American-style overdrive that's both harmonic and smooth, while still being clear and loaded with sustain. It's super compact and lightweight (only 30 lb.) so it's a great traveling head between shows and practice. A modern take on the classic 6L6 design, the Dr. Z Therapy Amp Head provides guitarists anywhere from squeaky clean to relentlessly overdriven in a simple, intuitive design.
