This used, 2007 Eastman MDA815 SB F Style Mandola recalls the late '20s golden age of these unique instruments and it's perfect for mandolin players looking for a slightly deeper sound. Tuned lower than a standard mandolin, and with a larger body, it's tuned to CGDA like a viola, and has a rich, deep tone that's markedly beautiful. Expertly built with a carved solid Spruce top with dual f-holes and carved solid, highly-flamed Maple back and sides, it sounds incredible. The Maple neck perfectly complements its already stellar looks, and the Ebony fingerboard plays great.
It has a 15 27/32" scale length and a 1 11/32" bone nut. Here in Very Good condition, it does have some minor playwear, most noticeably a chip at the top of the headstock (see photo). A K&K pickup has also been installed and sounds amazing when plugged in. Overall, the Eastman MDA815 SB F Style Mandola is one helluva player, top to bottom, and will be especially nice for someone looking for a change from your typical mandolin. Includes original hybrid case too.
