This Fairbanks F-20 is an incredible, luthier made L-00 from the shop of Dale Fairbanks in Burlington, VT. Aesthetically inspired by one of our shop favorite vintage guitars with this same black/ivoroid/firestripe look, this F-20 delivers a warm, low-end resonance with an articulate high-end that is rarely found on guitars of this size.

Featuring a Red Spruce top, paired with Honduran Mahogany back and sides, this 00-inspired build has the sort of quick snap to the string response that makes it so enjoyable to play. The aged finish is tasteful, bringing a vintage appeal while not being overdone, instead it has the vibe of a well taken care of vintage guitar. Punchy when digging in on a old-time bass run, but a sweetness to the sound when backing off the attack, the F-20 is a rarity in the world of new guitars. Includes a free Mass Street setup to your preferences and the original TKL Deluxe hardshell case.

Our Thoughts

What our description of the Fairbanks doesn’t specifically mention, is that we were inspired to order it because of an L-00 that is currently in my possession. Smitten by the look of the firestripe pickguard offset by the black finish, we knew we wanted Dale to replicate it in his shop. What we could not have known, is how close the feel, weight and sound would be to the original. What a phenomenal guitar this is.
