This
vintage 1969 Fender Thinline Telecaster delivers that lightweight, resonant tele tone tone from the first full year of thinline production. In typical Fender fashion of the time, the serial number dates the guitar to 1968, while the neck was stamped with a May 1969 date, which was not uncommon during the CBS-era.
Here with an ash body and maple neck, the original pickups were sent to Fralin to be rewound and sound fantastic. The volume pot is original, from the 1965 batch of pots, while the tone pot has been replaced and has a 1975 date. The original tuners are present along with the original frets.
The bottom side of the neck is not square to the sides, and has required a shim in the neck pocket to be setup properly. This shim was done in our shop and has brought the setup back within spec. It's possible the neck left the Fender factory this way as there is finish and along with the manufacturing marks present on the bottom of the neck.
Four holes located below bridge indicate a Bigsby tailpiece was installed at one point. The original bridge has been reinstalled before arriving here at the shop. The threaded steel saddles are original, and are a rare find on this model as they were being phased out by Fender in late 1968. The pickguard has been replaced, and altered slightly, possibly due to the bigsby installation. There are additional pickguard holes in the body under the replaced guard. There is also a strap button hole in the treble side horn.
The original Fender case been damaged on the hinge side, but does funcution. The case has been stenciled with "Graham Nash". We make no claims as to the authenticity of the stencil or ownership, however it does make for a cool vibe.
Here in Good condition, the finish looks good and the guitar feels, and plays great thanks to a Mass Street setup.
