This all-original 1965 Fender Stratocaster is an incredible example of a well-cared for vintage classic, that came to us from a longtime family-friend of the original owner.

Here with the iconic combination of an alder body, flat-sawn maple neck and Brazilian rosewood fingerboard, this is one of the best cared for examples of a '60s Strat we've seen. The neck dates to September, with a very comfortable profile and is stamped "B" for a 1 5/8" nut width. The frets are original, along with the inlays with plenty of height in the rosewood fingerboard for a refret, if the next owner so chooses.

The original grey-bobbin pickups sound incredible and deliver that mid-forward '60s Strat tone, without being overly bright or harsh. The pickups and electronics both date to 1965 and are untouched, with the original solder joints intact. The original tuners and saddles are present, along with the original 3-ply white pickguard, which was a new addition in later '65. The pickup covers, knobs and switch-tip are all present and original, and the guitar retains it's original 3-way switch and wiring. Original tremolo arm.

The nitrocellulose 3-tone sunburst finish is in excellent condition, with the sort of wear that conveys the guitar got played but never abused. The finish checking is absolutely gorgeous with a few knicks and knocks around the edges, along with a couple of spots so minor they don't photograph well, where the finish has reacted with something. When viewed under a black light there is evidence of a factory finish touch up on the inside treble horn. After careful examination and finish measurements by our team we feel this touch up was done at the factory, at the time of production and the finish is all original.

The pickguard, pickup and switch screws are all original. The six backplate screws all match in size, finish, thread count and patina however, they are a shape that we have not previously seen on a '65 backplate. They may be original, as Fender was often making use of whichever parts were available at the time and these screws were often some of the last parts installed on the body during assembly. With this being such a premium example of a '65 Strat we wanted to disclose this observation.

Here with the original black tolex, no-logo, hardshell case this is an amazing, vintage find that we're lucky to represent here at the shop. Serial# L16546
