This 1941 Gibson J-35 is a wonderful example of a two-bar, pre-war build that's been extremely well taken care of over the past 85 years. Responsive, lively and articulate this is a slope-shoulder Gibson that avoids the muddy low-end in favor of a clear response across the fingerboard, while still delivering that compressed attack that's made this body style famous.

Here in Excellent condition, the natural top is absolutely gorgeous and shows off the grain wonderfully. The top is crack free, with only minor playwear and dings - just the kind of wear that shows the guitar got played. The original firestripe pickguard pops, and really sets off the naturally aging of the nitrocellulose lacquer. The original bridge and ebony nut are present and lacquered over, a hallmark of these guitars. There is evidence of a previous neck reset and refreft, with a good neck angle and plenty of saddle height for future adjustments. The low-E string tuner button has been replaced and nicely matched to the originals and is only really visible under a black light. There is a stable, repaired back crack on the treble side, upper bout (see photos) which is not uncommon on these pre-war Gibsons.

A lighter weight build, with an airy, dynamic tone and a very present upper-end harmonic response not often found in J-35s of this era, this is a wonderful piece of pre-war Gibson history. Includes the original chipboard case.
