This Style A Gibson dates back to 1925, and is a lovely example of a 100-year-old mandolin. Featuring a carved spruce top, over a birch back and sides, this oval-hole model has that full low-end sound and sweet highs that have made this mandolin a well-regarded choice for folk and irish players alike.

Here with a recent refret, the fingerboard and frets have has been radiused to 14", which provides a more comfortable playing experience over the original flat fingerboard. That radius, combined with the slightly larger, modern fretwire used in the refret, also contributes to the playability of the instrument. The tuners have been replaced, along with the bridge - which has been upgraded to a modern adjustable bridge. The back near the neck block has been repaired, which is not uncommon on these mandolins as over time the back can separate from the sides. This repair has been neatly done and is stable and ready for the next hundred years of playing.
