Guild Acoustic Guitars - 1974 Bluegrass D-25M Transitional

SOLD - Contact us for more options

This used Guild Bluegrass D25M from 1974 is a "transitional" model, made during a time its build materials were changing. Prior to 1974, these were made entirely of Mahogany with a flat back. Afterward it had a Spruce top and an arched back. This version is all Mahogany and has the arched back. It sounds wonderful and is a particularly nice strummer - especially for bluegrass due to its volume and tone. Warm with nice low-end, crisp highs, and well-defined mids - plus great attack and plenty of headroom.

Here in Very Good condition, it has some finish spot touches across its top and a few small dings (see photos), but it plays smoothly, is as comfortable as they come, and is otherwise clean. The bridge pins have been replaced with Ebony ones with Abalone inlay, while the originals are in its case. It has a Rosewood fingerboard with mother-of-pearl dot inlays, a tortoiseshell pickguard, a ring rosette and matching purfling, as well as black binding. The scale length is slightly longer than usual, at 25 9/16", and the nut width is 1 21/32". A real player, even after 40 years, this Guild Bluegrass D-25M guitar sounds great - very open and inviting, and includes its original hardshell case.
