This 2009 Hillburn Octave mandolin is a beautiful example of a small shop instrument, made in Louisville, Co. Featuring a carved spruce top over carved flame maple back and sides, this instrument takes it's cues from the classic vintage archtop guitars and channels that into a lovely octave mandolin build. The low-end is tight and focused and makes for an excellent rhythm player or delivers a great open, drone-like sound. The upper register is punchy and articulate and deliver a nice counterpoint to the deeper octave sound.

Includes custom-fit hardshell case and tone-gard. There is minor finish wear/playweear but over all in excellent condition. There is minor wear to the finish from the tone-gard (see photos for example). The peghead veneer does show signs of minor knicks and scratches from string changes over the years.
