In the world of vintage-inspired Brazilian rosewood dreadnoughts, this lightly used Baxendale D-42 stands out. Custom voiced and lightly braced, this is one of the most musical, present and robust sounding modern dreadnoughts we've had in the store in quite some time. The appointments, craftsmanship and attention to detail are spot on and speak to the quality of guitars from JC Baxendale.
Featuring an Adirondack top, over an exceptional set of Brazilian Rosewood, this dreadnought sports striking vintage appointments such as the 42-style trim, torch inlay with stamped logo, along with under the hood details like hide glue construction, a dovetail neck joint and light bracing all combining for a lush, warm and responsive Brazilian dreadnought. The low-end response is quick and focused while the mids and highs speak clearly with a balanced response across the fingerboard.
Here in Excellent condition, there is the most minor of playwear to the finish but the guitar has clearly been well cared for. Built by a sole builder, with a hands-on approach to every detail, utilizing traditional materials and construction techniques to deliver what counts. We've been fortunate to represent both new and used JC Baxendale guitars and this is one of the finest examples we've seen.
