Martin Guitars - 1939 D-28 - Other than the obvious work around the bridge this is a crack free original finish wide neck D28 herringbone. At some point this guitar had a bridge nearly as big as the touch up and grafting around the now correct size bridge. The otherwise great condition of the guitar made it a worthy project for restoring the bridge area, even knowing that it could not be made invisible. The guitar plays and sounds great. The work on the guitar was done about two years by Jim Baggett and is well documented with extensive photos. The originality and good condition of all parts of the guitar other than the bridge face area made this an obvious choice to restore rather than replace the top. The neck has been reset and the full thickness fingerboard fitted with new frets. Please feel free to contact us with questions and an in hand description.
