This 1944 Martin D-28 is a quintessential example of a war-time herringbone that both responds and feels fantastic. Thanks in part to the ebony-supported neck, guitars of this era of Martin construction have a lightness and focus that are a joy to play.

The low-end that comes from a rear-shifted Brazilian rosewood dreadnought feels focused and dynamic, while the headroom and drive produced by the Adirondack top is the sort of thing flatpicking dreams are made of. The 1 11/16" nut width neck feels full, and good in the hand. The Brazilian rosewood has an exceptional figure to the grain, with the sort of buckle rash on the back that lets you know this guitar was enjoyed and played.

Previous repairs include a new bridge which has been since shaved down, new pins, new Waverly tuners along with a new nut. The top has previously been repaired along the treble side lower bout, with two patches resting mostly over the lining. There are a pair of repaired top cracks on the treble side lower bout, both of which are stable. There is evidence of overspray, and the entire body, neck and headstock have been buffed up to a new gloss shine. The original bridge plate is present, with repaired ball-end holes. Includes a Calton hardshell case. Please call for in hand description.
