This 1947 Martin D-18 is a responsive, bold sounding dreadnought with a lot of volume on tap. Here with a sitka spruce top and mahogany back and sides, this rear-shifted X-braced guitar is from the first year of the change to matching rosewood bridges and fingerboards on D-18s. This dreadnought has a good low to mid-range response, perfect for bass runs with a nice fundamental to the high-end with minimal overtones. While there are repaired side, back, top and pickguard cracks, this guitar has had a neck reset and refret and plays great. The neck has a rounded, comfortable profile, with a wider feeling 1 11/16" nut width that should not be of concern to any fans of 1 3/4". There are signs of capo wear on the back of the neck, but it does not affect the playability. One tuner has been replaced with a period appropriate tuning machine. Includes a modern hardshell case.
