Martin Acoustic Guitars - 1944 D-18

This vintage 1944 Martin D-18 is a fantastic mahogany dreadnought with specs that heralded the end of an era at Martin. Often referred to as a War era guitar, it was constructed in the last year of the golden-era combination of an Adirondack spruce top paired with scalloped bracing. Due to the metal shortage during WWII Martin opted to revert to their pre-1934 method of neck support, using an ebony support rod in the neck instead of the metal T-bar that were used from mid 1934 till early 1942.

The result is a guitar that is lighter in weight, with a quick response and a warm, full, rounded sound. These guitars have become a favorite by many Martin players.

This is as nice a representative of this era as you will find. Very clean bright original finish, the neck has been reset and refretted to perfect playability. The original bridge which was cracked is included and was used as a model for a nearly exact replacement. The inside of the guitar is clean and neat and sports the original bridge plate. A very clean and glued 4” top crack along with the typical E-string pickguard crack are the only wood repairs on this guitar. Includes modern hardshell case.

Payment via Wire Transfer preferred.
