This used Martin HD-28SE Brazilian was one of 93 sold as part of Martin's Guitar of the Month in 1987, so you probably won't be seeing another of these amazing guitars any time soon. A 14-fret dreadnought with forward scalloped X-bracing, it's made from a select Sitka Spruce top for great overall tone and figured Brazilian Rosewood that gives it a noticeably snappy quality, with nice lows and sparkling highs. The Mahogany V-shaped neck plays comfortably and the Ebony fingerboard is about as crisp as it was in '87. It's in Excellent condition, but has been played and shows some minor dings and finish checking associated with use and age. These guitars have always been great for a number of styles of playing and music, so it's a versatile player that does everything well and it's particularly great for loud bluegrass jams.

It has a 25 2/5" scale and a wider 1 3/4" nut that makes playing a breeze. And the appointments Martin included in this HD-28 really set it apart: the top features Herringbone purfling, and the back has Ivoroid binding and a zig-zag backstrip, while the squared headstock Style 42 inlays expertly round out its overall classic aesthetic. The belly-style bridge is made from Ebony and has a bone drop-in saddle with 2 1/4" string spacing. This Martin HD-28SE Brazilian is definitely worth checking out, even if just to play such a rare and limited instrument. Includes original black hard case.
