This used 2012 Sergio Tezanos Madrid Classical is an exceptional guitar and a rare one. Sergio Tezanos just might be the most talented of the famous Tezanos family of luthiers. He is the grandson of Mariano Tezanos Sr., the famous maker of many of the finest Ramirez guitars of the '60s, and the nephew of Mariano Tezanos, with whom he spent many years working. At present, Sergio is the only remaining Tezanos who still builds. For the past decade, he has been regularly commissioned by Paulino Bernabe to make many of the pricey Bernabe Imperial models. This guitar is a fine example of Sergio's Madrid model which, along with the Maria model, figures as his top-of-line guitar with the finest woods and internal design features.
The sound of this guitar is extremely smooth, silky, balanced, lyrical, and open with solid projection, sustain, and focus. This particular Indian rosewood contributes to the dense and rounded shape of the notes which are nevertheless quite clear. Although the guitar is in Excellent Plus condition and has room to develop, it already possesses the free and refined singing quality one would expect from a mature concert instrument. This Sergio Tezanos Madrid Classical presents a unique opportunity to acquire a spectacular instrument, as Sergio's guitars rarely appear on the American market.
