This used 2009 Thompson BTO #1 is a custom design from the super-talented builder, Bob Thompson. Bob started out building guitars years ago, but put his luthiery on hold when his renowned custom line of archery bows took off. He has since reentered the world of luthiery, and this BTO is proof that his return was long overdue.
Features include an Ebony bridge and fingerboard, Mahogany neck, slotted headstock, and a 1 11/16” bone nut. But the beautiful Adirondack Spruce top and African Blackwood back and sides really put this one over the top. The Blackwood imparts great volume and power—qualities that make this smaller-bodied parlor-style guitar sound absolutely huge. Like many of his models, this BTO has beautiful detailing too. The top and headstock feature black and white purfling, meticulously inlaid with abalone. Not to mention the eye-catching headstock inlay. This Thompson BTO #1 is in Very Good condition, with a 2 1/2" tight center seam crack under the bridge, small cracks in the bridge between the pins, and one 3" finish crack near the center of the back (see detail photos). Despite these, this is an amazing player. The original hard shell case is included. USED
