This Thompson Dreadnought #5 is a gorgeous and toneful instrument from the relatively underground, but super-talented builder, Bob Thompson. Bob started out building guitars years ago, but put his luthiery on hold when his renowned custom line of archery bows took off. He has since returned to luthiery and this dread shows it was a great move. His instruments are impressive—looks, craftsmanship, and playability—they have it all. Standard features on this dread include an Ebony bridge and fingerboard, Mahogany neck, Grover tuners, and a 1 3/4” bone nut. But what really sets this dread apart is its beautiful, even-grained Adirondack Spruce top and breathtaking African Blackwood back and sides. Considered by many as one of the Holy Grail of tonewoods, African Blackwood imparts great volume, brilliance, and sheer power—qualities you'll notice as soon as you strum on this. It projects so well! The top and headstock feature black and white purfling, meticulously inlaid with abalone for an elegant, relatively subtle shimmer. Even the bridge pins are inlaid!
A beautiful and unique instrument all around, this Thompson Dreadnought #5 is sure to please, especially for those who want an instrument that looks as stunning as it sounds. In Excellent condition with the original hard shell case. USED
