The ThroBak Pickups - ’55/’56-SB P90 MXV Set, here with aged covers, is a vintage-inspired set of pickups constructed with only the best reproduction materials. Featuring the vintage-modified baseplate for the same mass and material specs as a vintage baseplate but able to work in both modern and vintage routes. From ThroBak: Copied from two vintage '56 Les Paul Soap Bar P90 pickups sets the '55/'56-SB set represents a transition in both Les Paul and P90 soap bar specifications. Long A2 neck magnets and long A4 bridge magnets as per the vintage reference pickups were an apparent attempt to balance out neck and bridge tones from the factory. The result is a rich, dark neck tone with a rich swell above the 12th fret and a bridge rich in harmonics.

7.6K Neck 8.1K Bridge, long A2 magnets (Neck), A4 (Bridge), charged to vintage levels. Choose Butyrate Bone, Cream or Black MXV reproduction covers aged or unaged. Choice of shiny, tarnished or heavily aged Pole screws. Order with ThroBak Vintage Modified baseplates for a guaranteed fit with your Gibson Historic and all other modern P-90 guitar models. Also available with ThroBak vintage reproduction baseplates for vintage restoration products. All MXV soapbar sets come with 4 nickel plated brass vintage spec. mounting screws.

  • P-90 clone styrene bobbins tooled and molded in the USA to vintage specs. High impact Styrene insures all the good properties of vintage styrene but with improved durability.
  • P-90 bobbins wound on same Geo Stevens vintage design winder with custom traverse and tensioning system as used to wind P-90's in the 50's at the Parson's Street Kalamazoo plant.
  • ThroBak Exclusive reproduction P-90 baseplates. Available in Modified Vintage soap bar, vintage reproduction soap bar and vintage reproduction dog ear styles. Tin plated brass baseplates duplicate the mechanical and tonal properties of vintage P-90. Tooled and stamped in the USA.
  • Butyrate reproduction soap bar and dog ear P-90 pickup covers. Available in Bone, Cream and Black, aged and unaged. Tooled and molded in the USA.
