From 2006, this used Triggs F5 Mandolin is the culmination of decades of building expertise. Jim Triggs has been building archtops and mandolins dating back to the 1980s when he worked at Gibson and oversaw the famed custom shop. Based on the famous Loar-era mandolins, this F5 has been played in and has a nice dynamic, woody chop.

Here with minimal fretwear, there is a fair amount of playwear, finish checking and wear. This instrument was definitely played hard but not abused. Their is evidence that the tuners have been replaced at once point. Built right here in Lawrence, KS, this F5 includes a hardshell case.

Our Thoughts

This Jim Triggs F5 mandolin has a wonderful, woody, played in tone that not all mandolins possess. Beautiful flamed maple back and sides, with clear high notes and a nice bark on chops, this mando is ready to play!
