The TS1 from Two-Rock is one of our favorite amps here at the shop, delivering a now iconic take on the classic overdrive amplifier. Sporting a gorgeous, standout Loden suede combined with the classic Silver Anodized chassis, this is one of the most unique Two-Rock looks we've seen.
Featuring a cascading gain-stage design, each part of the amp feeds into the next, and as a result, the controls are particularly interactive with one another. Starting with a FET-based that you can think of as the greatest clean boost pedal to ever hit the front of your amp, followed by a 12AX7-powered Gain stage for headroom sculpting, 2 EQ settings with different gain levels, or a tone stack bypass for much louder gain and midrange bark, rounded out with a footswitch-able "Lead" gain that adds dynamics and allows for further overdriven tones.
The EQ controls are highly dynamic, and play nicely with the switches. Bright switch boosts the highs and adds plenty of sparkle, Mid boosts midrange, and Deep cuts low mids which emphasizes the bass frequencies and the upper-mids where the guitars fundamental frequencies lie. These switches still work when the EQ Bypass switch is enabled for further tone-sculpting. The Lead Master smoothly dials in the Lead gain stage, while the final Master pushes it all into the power tubes. Presence is at the end to subtly sculpt those overall sparkly highs.
The backplate features key controls that unlock this amps full potential. The star of the show is the tube-driven effects loop, featuring level controls and two bright-pull switches for when long cable runs bleed treble. The High/Low Switch halves the power from 100W to 50W and the proprietary output transformers automatically compensate for impedance differences. Meticulously crafted, each amp is hand-voiced via internal trim pots, and the Birch cab hosts a stiffness that provides excellent tone and projection. Overall, the utmost attention to detail is delivered with each Two-Rock amp and this is no exception, resulting in a favorite amp for players worldwide and certainly here at our shop.
